The HUB Family Resource Center Expands its Board of Directors

Dover:  The HUB Family Resource Center has recently elected two new members to their Board of Directors. Kate Kirkwood of the Touring Actors Company and HUB parent Laura Chandler were elected this spring for a term of three years.  The HUB Family Resource Center’s mission is to provide families with educational programs and support services which enhance their ability to raise healthy children in caring homes. Both Kirkwood and Chandler feel passionate about the HUB’s mission, wish to expand the HUB’s parent programming and aid in the search for funding to ensure the HUB’s viability for years to come.

Kirkwood, the executive director of the Touring Actors Company in Rochester, NH comes from an experienced background of teaching artist, actor, producer and director. Her passion extends to working with child actors and young adults to produce and direct performances throughout New England. While setting up a new studio in Rochester, she was moved to learn about the HUB and felt that her positive involvement with children paired well with the HUB’s mission.

Chandler, a stay-at-home mom, first heard of the HUB while attending a new baby group at the Works Family Health and Fitness Center in Somersworth. Through word of mouth, Chandler learned that the HUB in Dover offered not only baby groups, but toddler playgroups as well. She began attending HUB parent/child groups and has become a HUB playgroup regular.  She has experienced - first hand - the support and friendships that the HUB has to offer.

The HUB’s Executive Director Greg Burdwood observed, “Over the years, our success as an organization has been contingent on having a strong board.  Both Kate and Laura are wonderful additions to a group of people who come to every board meeting and HUB function, ready to roll up their sleeves and lend their expertise.  The HUB is very fortunate to have two more board members with so much energy, experience, and knowledge.”

The HUB Family Resource Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. The HUB offers parent education programs, parent support and toddler playgroups, home visiting services and parenting expertise.
