HUB Family Resource Center Dedicates Childcare Room to Dover Rotary
DOVER: On March 28th the Rotary Club of Dover held their weekly lunch meeting at the recently opened McConnell Community Center, where the HUB Family Resource Center presented a plaque and dedicated the HUB’s childcare room to the club for their generous donation of $25,000. The newly renovated “Dover Rotary Childcare Room” has become a beautiful, bright and fun place for parents to bring their children while they attend one of the many parenting groups offered by the HUB.
According to HUB executive director Greg Burdwood, Dover Rotary has a long history of supporting initiatives that will improve health, access to education and help alleviate poverty. Burdwood noted that many people seek services at more than one of the organizations located at the center, making it advantageous to have such a wide range of services under one roof. “Dover Rotary understands this. Healthy and economically independent families will grow from the kinds of interrelated experiences and exchanges that are now possible at the McConnell Center. And Dover Rotary’s support has made it possible for the HUB to contribute to the success of many more families.”
Burdwood added that the opening of the HUB’s space at the McConnell Center is a significant step for his organization. “The Dover Rotary Childcare Room is central to our realizing the goal of helping more families through this new community resource. We are the family resource center we are today in part because of Dover Rotary and we are proud to dedicate this special place to the club.”
The HUB now offers many types of programs for parents and children at the McConnell Community Center. Parents can attend parenting classes, workshops, and parent support groups while their children are actively and safely engaged next door with HUB childcare providers in the Dover Rotary Childcare Room. |
