Gear for Grades

The Gear for Grades campaign is an exciting program aimed to help children across New Hampshire return to school with the supplies they need for another year of learning. 3,000 backpacks are filled with donated pencils, glue, safety scissors, notebooks and other essential school supplies and distributed to students in need in communities around New Hampshire.

Citizens Bank’s 78 branches statewide serve as collection locations for the supplies. The Gear for Grades campaign is made possible through the efforts of Citizens Bank, PlusTime NH, 95.7 WZID, the NH Union Leader and the generous contributions of the residents of New Hampshire.

To make this program a success, we need your help to fill these backpacks! Please drop off new school supplies – crayons, pencils, folders, and rulers – at any Citizens Bank branch July 19th through August 6th. Together, we can send children back to school with the gear they need to make the grade in the classroom.

Reds 5 Mile Road Race & 3 Mile Walk!

The Final Tally!

Reds Race is a 5 mile road race and 3 mile walking course, open to anyone interested in either running or walking in this annual event. “Reds Race” was born out of the generosity of Red’s Shoe Barn which introduced this race as the Red’s Shoe Barn 5 Mile race 29 years ago.

Four years ago, Red’s Shoe Barn turned the planning and execution of this race to five Strafford County non-profit organizations to transform this race into a fundraiser, benefiting the five non-profit organizations, with the intent to strengthen this community. This year, two new non-profit organizations have been added to join the partnership. Reds Race has also been accepted as one of seven races in the New Hampshire Grand Prix race series comprised of seven races throughout the state of New Hampshire.

HUB supporters who ran, walked and pledged at Reds Race 2010!

This years race proved to be another stellar day for race conditions. Over 30 HUB supports, wearing brigtht orange t-shirts took to the streets of Dover either running or walking the 5 mile road race or 3 mile walking route.

The year, the HUB's Somersworth Youth Connection program (SYC) joined in the pledging efforts. Together, the HUB and SYC raised $8,507.40. Monies directed to the HUB totaled $7,481.40 and $1,026 was raised specifically for the SYC.
