Our Mission

The HUB Family Resource Center's mission is to provide families with educational programs and support services which will enhance their ability to raise healthy children in caring homes.

• The HUB serves all families in Strafford County, and surrounding towns. Our programs work with most family situations. Our families come from all socioeconomic levels, and share the joys and frustrations of parenthood in a welcoming and comfortable environment.
• Every HUB employee and volunteer is dedicated to serving parents and children and providing access to resources that support each family's physical and emotional well-being.
• Parents and children have an opportunity to take advantage of the many baby and toddler playgroups, support programs that help build parent networks, and learning opportunities for both parent and child.
• Other programs offer a higher degree of support where families may qualify for direct services and home visiting programs.
• The HUB is recognized across Strafford County as the best resource for parent education and expertise, support and fun family events.

Our Principles

The HUB will be proactive in addressing the evolving needs of families and adhere to the highest standards of family support practice, assuring that:

• Staff and families work together in relationships based on equality and respect.
• Staff members enhance every family's capacity to support the growth and development of all it's members – adults, youth, and children.
• Families are resources to their own members, to other families, to programs, and to communities.
• Programs affirm and strengthen every family's cultural, racial, and linguistic identities and enhance their ability to function in a multicultural society.
• Programs are embedded in their communities and contribute to the community-building process.
• Programs advocate with families for services and systems that are fair, responsive, and accountable to the families served.
• Practitioners work with families to mobilize formal and informal resources to support family development.
• Programs are flexible and continually responsive to emerging family and community issues.
• Principles of family support are modeled in all program activities, including planning, governance, and administration.

Today, the HUB continues to offer a variety of parent and family programs and home-based services in Dover, Somersworth, Rochester and northern Strafford County. Families from these towns as well as neighboring seacoast and Maine communities attend our ongoing parent/child developmental play groups, parent education classes, young parent support groups and dads' groups.
